Description: Big Portage Lake is located in Waterloo Township in Jackson County in Southeastern Michigan. This Michigan lake consists of 531 acres of surface waters with reported depths of 40 feet. Big Portage Lake is across the street from smaller Little Portage Lake (174 acres). There are two public access sites, which includes a hard surface ramp, toilets and parking for cars, one at the Portage Lake State Park, the other at the Portage Lake Jackson County Park. Fishermen report catches of Bluegill and Largemouth Bass. |

we used to go to a cottage on big portage lake from 1961 -1970 its a favorite memory of mine. those were really great times. going to vinnings store getting food, and gas for our boat and car never forgot those days with my dad, sister , little brother and our cousin from Milwaukee we fished the north west corner the cottage was in the south east corner the waterloo park was across from us . vinnings later bought the land to the north of us and behind us all the way to the co. rd for trailer park sites .
