Bostwick Lake is very well located in Eastern Kent County’s Cannon Township.  One will notice this Michigan lake on the north side of Belding Road (M44). Bostwick Lake boasts of 221 acres of surface waters and has reported depths of up to 24 feet.

Years ago, Bostwick was a lake of seasonal cottages, but today Bostwick lake consists of mostly year round residents due to it’s close proximity to Grand Rapids and Rockford. If you are a longtime Kent County resident,  you may remember the lake to be the home of “The Pines” , a favorite swimming and diving spot. A place where many learned how to swim. Today it is replaced witha number of private lakefront residences.

 Bostwick Lake Owners Association was formed by the lake owners to oversee the maintenance and health of the lake.

Bostwick Lake has no known public boat launch, but Cannon Township maintains a very small pocket park on Kitson Drive on the southwest quarter of the lake. It is poorly marked and not well publicized, until we wrote this post.

There are two other points worth mentioning. First, the Bostwick Lake Inn, an old inn turned lakeside restaurant with outdoor, lakefront deck dining- during the summer of course. Great food and great atmosphere.  Second, but by no means least, the Bostwick Lake Bakery, well worth the trip with great BBQ.

The Pines Pavilion on Bostwick Lake, Rockford, Michigan         June 10, 1948 Dearest, Received your letter yesterday, glad you are well. Spent the day on the beach yesterday. Our neighbors are wonderful. I am thrilled to death over a three year old black cocker that Mrs. Lollar gave me. She comes from prize stock and has a pedigree from here to there. We are busy making friends with her because she is very shy. Expect to go to Holland Michigan to fish in the lake Saturday. Don has made friends here and will be very happy I am sure. Love Thelma
