Description:

It’s Saturday. It’s Summer. It’s time to enjoy the Michigan Lakes.

Cadillac Michigan in Wexford County is home to two premier lakefront destinations: Lake Mitchell and Lake Cadillac.

mitchellsignLake Mitchell, the larger of the two lakes, has 2580 acres of surface water with depths of up to 21 feet. Over 90% of the lake is less than 15 feet deep.

Lake Cadillac is very respectful of size, over 1120 acres with depths of 28 feet. Over 50% of the lake is less than 15 feet deep.

Fishermen find nice catches of Bluegills, Crappie, Northern Pike, Perch, Rainbow Trout, Walleye, Large and Small Mouth Bass. No matter what the season, you will always find someone trying to outsmart the fish.

canalcadillacA very popular state park is located on M-115 (exit #176 US 131) between the two lakes. The 330 acre William Mitchell State Park is well equipped with amenities and is always well maintained. Lots and lots of Michigan waterfront to enjoy in this park.

During Michigan’s lumbering era, a channel was built between the two Michigan lakes to float the timber from one lake to the sawmills on the other lake. Today this waterway is used by boaters motoring from one lake to the other.

lakemitchelllakecadillac-copyYou will find everything from lakefront resorts to waterfront motels, cottages to condos, seasonal to year round residents. You will find both Burger King and Mac Donald’s, plus a nice selection of mom and pop restaurants with good home cooking. There are also plenty of places to shop for all the supplies you will be needing to fully enjoy your Michigan weekend.

Enjoy these jewels of Michigan.

Yesterday we stopped here for the day, the day was sunny and warm, the children spent the day playing in the water. A very nice sandy beach and park to enjoy. We will be back home by the end of the week.
