I am not real sure what to think about the couple in the boat in the picture on this post card. The gentle man appears to have somewhat of a concerned or worried look on his face; while the woman, who is rowing the boat, has a gleeful, almost sinister look on her face. I just hope she didn’t have anything too menacing in mind. After all, CSI Battle Creek wasn’t around in that day to investigate if he did not return.
Goguac Lake is located in Calhoun County, south of Battle Creek, just north of I-94 and west of M-66. This Michigan lake, with 350 plus acres of surface waters and reported depths of up to 66 feet, has long been a popular lake.
Unlike from the day of the postcard, Goguac Lake is developed with year round homes. Willard Beach public park has a beautiful sandy beach, and is the site of a yearly one mile public swim, attracting lots of swimmers.
Goguac Lake is home to The Waterfront Restaurant. If you are like me, I think food always tastes better when eaten outside, and it tastes even better when there is a gentle breeze coming of a Michigan lake. Good food, a little on the pricey side, but worth it for an occasional splurge.
Goguac Lake is well known for its fishing. Fisherman tell me to look for Crappie, Bluegill, Pike, Largemouth Bass, Yellow Perch, Rock Bass and Walleye.
